Hudi - Golden Plover
The Hudi package is a 4-5 day
round-trip in the surrounding mountain areas. This tour
comprises a hike in the footsteps of those who assisted
displaced persons escape to freedom during the war and a
challenging hike up along a canyon in Hellmobotn. Thousands
of people here were guided to freedom in Sweden. We stay
overnight in a lavvo camp in the border region with Sweden.
On day two, we have a full-day hike to the summit of the
area’s highest mountain, Tjåråk (1375 m above sea level).
There is a spectacular view of the region from the top. On
day three, we hike most of the day through Badjelánnda
(Padjelanta) National Park in Sweden to the upper reaches
of the Ruonasvágge Valley, where we stay overnight in a
lavvo. Day four is a relaxing day with a 20 km canoe trip
on the Ruonasvágge River. There is plenty of time for
fishing if anyone is keen. We spend the final night in a
gamme on the mountain plateau above Hellmobotn, which was
also our starting point.
This tour requires an average level of fitness. The summit
ascent may be removed from the programme, reducing the
tour’s duration by one day.
