Gurtte - Red-Throated Diver
The Gurtte package is a tour with particular focus on Sami natural philosophy, survival and traditions. We look in more detail at the utilisation of plants, including sennagress (grass used for making footwear), angelica and sorrel, as well as seasonal berry picking. On day one, the focus is on Sami plants and matauk (traditional food collection), while day two concentrates on the area’s rich Sami history and culture. Our guests learn to make a camp fire in the traditional Sami way. You will also learn about traditional Sami accommodation – lavvo (herdsmen’s tent) and gamme (turf hut) – have an introduction to basic Sami survival and an insight into Sami natural philosophy.
